Magnificent Seventh birthday for The Leanne Fund

Seven years of providing support for those affected by Cystic Fibrosis and The Leanne Fund is looking forward to another year of expansion ahead.

As the charity marks its seventh anniversary this month, it is going through a major phase of service expansion from the Highlands and Islands to the Grampian region and will celebrate this milestone with some additional fundraising events throughout 2017.

This summer Team Leanne will take on their biggest challenge yet – the Magnificent Seven – an extreme challenge to climb seven Munros in less than 24 hours! The team from the Isle of Lewis have begun their training and plan to take on the challenge in July.

Other upcoming events include a fundraiser by local DJs George and Paul on March 4th in the Lewis and Harris Rangers Club and the annual Point 5k on June 3rd.

The 7th birthday will also be marked by the launch of a promotional film supported by MG Alba. Some clips from the film have already been released which describe more about the work of the Fund and the lives of those it supports (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32LMeHm9b4Y&feature=youtu.be and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odHJSJKEftk)

Chrisetta Mitchell, Development Manager of The Leanne Fund said: “The Fund has grown so much over the last seven years.

“It began offering special treats for those affected by Cystic Fibrosis across the Highland and Islands to now providing ten different services to those with CF right across the north of Scotland.

“Expansion to the Grampian area is now well underway and the Fund is now able to support more than 150 individuals and their families.

“The last year has seen the Fund open its first office, employ its first member of staff and launch a brand new website. The board and volunteers are looking forward to continuing to support those with CF and creating new services in the future in response to needs identified.”

Over the years The Leanne Fund has supported individuals through family breaks, driving lessons, complementary therapies, spa days, pamper treatments for inpatients, gym memberships, fitness equipment, crisis support and counselling.

Specific programmes include Get Active which assists with provision of sport/fitness equipment or gym/sports club membership to help improve and maintain fitness and ‘On the Move’, a new initiative to assist young people with CF with independent living.
