Hi, this is Willie and Pete's update of our sponsored cycle from Barra to the Butt of Lewis which we completed in memory of Willie's sister Leanne and to raise money for The Leanne Fund.
The Challenge was to cycle 162 miles across 10 Islands in 4 days!

Took the ferry from Oban to Barra, cycled from Castlebay to the bottom of Vatersay and back to take in the first 12 miles.
On the Thursday we left Castlebay and headed for the ferry at Aird Mhor to take us to Eriskay, which we were 5 minutes late for but luckily it was running late too! We cycled through Eriskay and South Uist, stopping for lunch and to avoid the rain at the Borrodale Hotel. We reached the Ardnastruban bed and breakfast in Grimsay later that afternoon having travelled through Benbecula, covering a total of 46 miles.
In the morning we made our way to Berneray via Lochmaddy to catch the ferry to Harris. Friday afternoon traveling from Leverburgh to Ardhasaig in the rain was by far the toughest part of the cycle so far, but the dinner at the Ardhasaig hotel was something to look forward to.
Climbing the Clisham first thing in the morning wasn't the best start to the day! We eventually reached Stornoway around 3pm for a late lunch. On the last stage of the journey - Stornoway to the Butt, we were accompanied by Willie's dad and Robert who took turns to cycle with us. It was a tough day with a head wind most of the way but we made it to the lighthouse by 7pm having covered almost 70 miles. Thanks to everyone who met us at Ness with champagne and a warm welcome.
Thank you to everyone who helped us along the way and sponsored us for our cycle - we had a great time but boy was it tough !!
