Get Active
Why is exercise so important?
The health benefits of an active lifestyle are widely recognised, but exercise is especially important for those affected by Cystic Fibrosis. Regular physical activity and physiotherapy led exercise help improve physical function, cardiovascular performance and muscle strength. Exercise may also aid airway clearance, slow the rate of lung function decline, and contribute to an improved quality of life. How can The Leanne Fund help? Though our ‘Get Active’ initiative we are supporting young people with CF with the provision of sport/fitness equipment or gym/sports club memberships to help them improve and maintain fitness. Sports equipment/memberships will be ordered by The Leanne Fund and delivered directly to your home address. By providing CF sufferers with their own exercise equipment, issues of cross infection are kept to a minimum. As part of this service and in conjunction with the CF Physiotherapist, applicants will also have individually tailored exercise programmes that are regularly monitored and frequently re-evaluated.
